Chassis painted gloss black ... bell crank OD.
Springs and rear axle painted OD. Will likely be able to reinstall tommorrow.
Today is a RED letter day!!!! Finally have begun to put things back on instead of taking things off.
Hurrah!!!!!!!
Under all the original paint there was a RCEME rebuild tag in pretty good shape, so I masked it and painted around it.
Here is the front axle installed. Was pretty easy to sandblast and paint, although I will be removing the tie rods and finishing them.
I know that this needs final adjustment, but it looks like the bell crank is correctly positioned.
A bit of touch up paint needed and those rubber grease cups for the spring shackles need replacing.
Refurbished brake cylinder and cleaned up backing plate. New brake line installed. Clearly that there is a bit of touch up painting on the springs to do.
Master cylinder honed and rebuilt by a local company (Mobile Brake and Radiator). Great job and nice folks to deal with.
After priming and painting the pedal and master cylinder assembly installed. I will install the heat shield when I put in the steering box.
Manufactured and installed rear brake line, and it seemed that it was time to install the wiring harness. Don came over and it became apparent that it would be easier to install the harness after the body was on, so with a bit of rolling the chassis around and taking the front off of the rotisserie and supporting it on a long board between saw horses, the body easily dropped into place.
Decided that since it was such a nice day (probably the last before the winter) we should roll the chassis and tub out into the sunshine for some photo's.
Thought a bit of a trip down memory lane was in order. Here is the dashboard before I began the rebuild ...
Battery cover before a trip through the sandblast cabinet and some touch-up with glazing putty.
Chassis and Rebuild
Finally getting onto completing the chassis stripping and moving forward on the rebuild.
